Celebrating 2015 and looking forward to a prosperous 2016
So as the end of the year draws ever near it will soon be time to shut down the office for Christmas and think about enjoying the break with family and friends.
It’s a great time to reflect on the past year and this is as important in business as it is in personal life. To think about the opportunities either capitalised on or not, and how things can be bigger and better for the coming year.
There’s a lot of positivity around the economy and the growth of many business sectors – and a recent survey has shown that businesses feel they are in a better financial position today in comparison with a year ago. However, the same research has highlighted that while confidence is high, business owners are still acutely aware of the challenges that lie ahead. Customer demand topped the bill as the biggest potential challenge, followed by increased competition and access to appropriate staff.
Collaboration is said to be key in the recovery and by working together in mutually beneficial partnerships to share best practice or outsource certain functions, firms can make some good headway to get through the challenging times.
In our region, there are some good developments to aid this: the launch of Advantage by Birmingham City University, to help firms with a variety of information on funding sources such as grants, academic expertise, business networks and potential employees, will certainly support the business growth in the region and collaborative working for local businesses.
Businesses in the West Midlands can indeed feel positive about the year ahead – a plethora of regeneration in the city including Grand Central at New Street Station, the upcoming work in the Snow Hill area and the opportunities that the prospect of high speed rail brings all spells good news for businesses in and around the region.
So, on that positive note, all it leaves for us to say in our last post of 2015 is we hope you have a very Merry Christmas and look forward to a prosperous 2016.
