HMRC makes 70m from late payment fines

As reports this week hit about HMRC making £70m from late payment penalties, we were reminded of the success of our investment in communication channels to keep all clients informed on deadlines for the best chance of avoiding fines.

As well as keeping clients informed in person or on the telephone, our website home page is updated regularly with important developments, dates and deadlines, to ensure all clients know exactly what is expected and when – and our newsletter reinforces this.

There will always be some people who, sometimes due to unforeseen circumstances, could still miss this deadline and this is beyond our control. However, our success rates in getting clients to get all their paperwork in so they can be filed on time are high.
